Too close for comfort?

We had a gathering when our good friends the Tomlinsons were preparing to leave for life abroad in Jakarta, including their 3 (Tatum and Finn are in the picture; Clara has wandered off) and Jonah (Ian and Deb's) and Arlo. We tried to get all five of them to hang out in the wagon, but it didn't really last, so here's four.

At the Columbiana County Fair

Mommy note - I got this in a pix message from Sam and even though it's only been a few days that I haven't seen him, I think Arlo looks about 2 years older since last weekend. Can't wait for them to come home (I miss them!) even though I know they are having soooo much fun in Ohio!

Washington Post Article on the Snowpocolypse Baby Boom

I don't think the article is particularly well written but we've been watching for the trend after last year's snowstorms. So far, I personally haven't noticed a big upsurge in activity at the birth center where we go (meaning I can still get an appointment) nor a flood of moms due in early November at yoga classes, etc., but there are certainly other signs and anecdotes pointing in the other direction, too. And looking more broadly at the whole country, the trend seems more evident (congrats to all those expecting in the coming months!) among friends and acquaintences. If nothing else, I'd say we are right at the center of the time period in which our peers are becoming parents, and I can't say that's a bad place to be. It's such fun to share our stories, have kids who can play together, and enjoy these life changes together. And we've made lots of great friends through the process who we otherwise might never have met!
